Press Release 7 th March 2018 ‘Ganatantrik Adhikar Suraksha Sangathan’, Odisha condemns demolition of statue of Lenin in Tripura and vandalizing statue of Periyar in Tamilnadu. Both Lenin and Periyar were not simple individuals rather both are an ideology. The democratic country like India if wants to keep its values of democracy alive then the ideology of Periyar and Lenin should be respected. But a particular fundamentalist group wants that their ideology should only prevail. That is why they are attacking other ideologies and its believers which is condemnable. Periyara symbolizes against superstitions, caste oppression and practices of manual scavenging. Similarly, Lenin is not simply an ideology rather a way of emancipation of working class. Those want to destroy Periyar and Lenin they are nothing like religious bigots, superstitious, intolerant, anti-dalit and anti-working class.
